Maternity Leave

If you’re thinking of applying for maternity leave – Congratulations!

We’re committed to supporting you through your pregnancy, childbirth, and early childcare period.

Eligibility

Maternity leave benefits are available to all female employees who:

  • Are expectant mothers requiring time off for pregnancy, childbirth, and childcare, and
  • An employee shall be eligible for paid maternity leave / maternity benefit provided she has worked for at least 80 days in the 12 months immediately preceding the expected date of delivery, subject to applicable law and the terms of this Policy.

Process

An employee seeking maternity leave is required to submit a written notice to the Company at least 8 weeks prior to the proposed start date of leave, wherever possible. Employees are encouraged to inform the Company as early as reasonably practicable to enable appropriate work planning and a smooth handover of responsibilities.

The maternity leave application must be supported by relevant medical documentation, including a medical certificate confirming the pregnancy and the expected date of delivery.

Duration of Leave

In line with the provisions of the Maternity Benefit Act, eligible employees are entitled to 26 weeks (182 days) of maternity leave.

  • This leave is to be taken as a continuous period, unless otherwise allowed under applicable law or company policy.
  • The exact start and end dates of maternity leave should be discussed and agreed upon with your Reporting Manager and HR.

 During your approved maternity leave:

  • You will only receive your gross monthly salary for the duration of the leave, as per company policy.
  • All other benefits and allowances will be discontinued.

Note

In line with applicable law, employees with fewer than two surviving children will be eligible for 26 weeks of paid maternity leave. Employees with two or more surviving children will be eligible for 12 weeks of paid maternity leave.
