Casual Leave

Casual Leave is meant for those unplanned, short-term situations that come up in life like a sudden emergency at home, unexpected personal work that genuinely can’t wait, etc. An employee who is confirmed gets 6 Casual Leave days credited to your leave balance at the start of each calendar year (January–December).

Incase, you are confirmed mid-year, the leave to be credited is calculated on a pro-rata basis.

Example:
If you join in July, there are 6 months left in the year.
Your leaves credited for that year will be:
(6 / 12) × 6 = 3 Leave days

The system will automatically calculate and credit this to your account.

Utilization

Because this type of leave is meant for unplanned or short-term needs:

  • It is recommended to use the leave one day at a time.
  • You cannot take leaves for more than 2 consecutive working days at a stretch.
  • After using up to 2 consecutive casual leave days, there should be a minimum gap of 3 working days before you apply for the same type again.

Carry Forward & Encashment

  • Casual Leave cannot be carried forward to the next year.
  • It cannot be encashed at any point.

Note

We understand that casual leave is usually for unplanned situations, but communication is still important.

  • Wherever possible, please inform your line manager at least 1 working day in advance.
  • In case of a genuine emergency, it is acceptable to inform us on the same day, as early as you reasonably can (call/message/email).

You should also ensure your casual leave request is updated on the Keka portal so that your records and approvals are clear and transparent.

If you’re confused about the number of Leave Days you have, you can log in to the HR portal and find out.
